Backstage Launched and One More Thing…

Mar
02

For those of you who’ve been following us along on our journey, you’ve seen videos of us building, practicing, and pitching our deck, but haven’t heard what came of it.  Well…

We’re excited to announce that we’ve raised a $250,000 seed round led by Founder’s Co-op, here in Seattle. In raising the round, we’re now able to focus all of our efforts on Untitled Startup and take our vision of how a company should be built to the next level.

Founder’s Co-op specializes in investing in small teams building software and web-based services and we’re excited to join their portfolio. Already we’ve benefited from the experience of not only Andy Sack and Chris DeVore, but also that of the other great companies they’ve invested in. We’re joining a strong community of startups and entrepreneurs that is much more than just an investment fund. Founder’s recognizes the opportunity in social media and we’re pleased to have their experience and support as we move forward. With both our long-term and short-term goals in mind, we couldn’t think of a better partner to work with.

We’ve also had the camera rolling throughout the entire experience. Though we weren’t able to share all the footage at the time, we’re going to be releasing a video of our experiences as well as reflecting on it all in an upcoming article in TechFlash.

In addition, we’ve finally released alpha-3 of our website. This version incorporates our new “Backstage” platform that opens our startup in a manner that few other companies have ever tried.  Damon’s spent the past two years building tools for people (sometimes on a whim, that’s how TweepSearch came about), and we both want to continue doing that, but for a much wider audience. Backstage will allow us to do this. Got an idea for a product? Let us know. If it grabs enough attention, we may just put it together for you. We think it’s a pretty awesome concept for building a company and we hope you do as well. So check out Backstage at Untitled Startup.

For those of you that may not be familiar with US: Untitled Startup is a social media startup based in Seattle, WA led by Damon Cortesi and Aviel Ginzburg. We have a pretty simple goal – build simple, useful tools for social media professionals. In the first two months of being a company, we’ve already launched one product, RowFeeder, that simply streams tweets in real-time into a Google Spreadsheet for archiving and later analysis. To date, we’ve processed over 1.5 million tweets and continue to expand our functionality and customer-base. But this is only one of what will be many simple, useful tools for social media people.

Needless to say, we’re pumped!

  • Indeed it is!
